London Calling... CAP and GOWN Answering

My first day in London was very interesting because not only did it look different, it also felt different. The smell of the city was even different–not an awful stink that makes you wrinkle your nose and put your shirt over it–but a different odor that makes you look around and think, “This is amazing! I’m smelling a different country almost half way across the world.” Everything but the bottled water is different in London. Usually, in Huntsville, I go to the store and pay for a Snicker’s bar with a dollar bill, but today, I paid for a Snicker’s bar with a little gold coin called a pound. As weird as this sounds, that simple errand was a great experience.

My London experience so far has been very interesting. The culture is so different here from the way the people talk to the way they dress and the way they eat. Today we explored the city. It is so beautiful and it encompasses so many old stone buildings and art. I rode a subway for the first time in my life and I was able to experience life in an overcrowded city. Although I live in the city in Huntsville, it isn’t crowded and there is more space. One thing I found interesting is that they drive on the opposite side of the road and they don’t yield to pedestrians. The food that they serve here is also very tasteless. But, none the less, I enjoyed my first day here in London.

Today we arrived in London after an eight hour plane ride. When we got off to go to the Underground I was afraid that I was going to get lost because there were so many people there. I knocked into an English man’s cigarette and oh boy was he mad. I felt pretty bad about it, but I did apologize to him. When we arrived at the Hostel I finally got to wind down and get all my belongings together. Then, I ended up having to move to a different room. When we all came to an agreement to go walk around to do a little sight seeing I was very excited to see the different landmarks and stores. My favorite part of the sight seeing would have to be when we went to Chinatown except for the part where I had lost the crowd due to a lot of traffic coming across the walkway. This day was a great day! I loved everything that I saw and took lots of pictures. It was just great.

Today we arrived in London after a long flight from Dallas. Mr. Scribner put on these purple socks with these short shorts and he didn’t realize he was ashy. The hostel was totally different from the one’s in the U.S. It was a lot smaller and the bathrooms were different from the one’s in the U.S. It was a lot smaller and the bathrooms were different. Mr. Scribner had us doing all this long walking, but he didn’t know where he was going so we just walked around in the cold for a while. I would say it was worth it because we saw some pretty amazing stores and a lot of unique people.
